Folks,time for Gmail design change!
With the kick start of major changes in this year, Google had announced plans for moving its users to the new Gmail design hence making the old version obsolete. At the moment, this is either optional for the required users or might be unavailable because the G-Suite administrator hasn’t enabled it.
Currently it is assumed that G-Suite users or those who have paid accounts are suitable technically to avail this feature. Probably, the new design which is now announced for G-Suite users will be soon fetched by free users. The uncertainty is surrounded over this as Google hasn’t shed more light on regular users.
Maybe in September every user would be required to move to this feature and the opt-out choice could be made for one more month. Finally in October the option will disappear. This is nothing but a warning of several months that Google is giving to its G-Suite administrators for the change coming. Also, for free users should prepare to migrate to the new design in a matter of few months.
Google will adapt Iphone’s ‘Apps Switching’ feature in Android P
Google is following in the footsteps of Apple, this time for a feature called ‘Overview’, which is essentially a fancy term for app switching.
Google will be rolling out its next-in-line Android P towards the end of the year, and with that, Android users will be learning a new way of interacting with their devices.
With the iPhone X comes the notch on the top and zero bezels at the bottom. This paved way for a new method of interacting and switching apps by swiping up from the bottom of the screen. The same method will be incorporated in the upcoming Android version, Mashable reports.
As more manufacturers are going bezel-less and introducing notch on their smartphones, it is imperative for the software to adapt to the change in order to deliver the best possible user experience. Google’s new feature is a step in that direction.
Create GIF in Gboard
Do you love GIFs? Google is allowing you to create your own GIFs using its third-party Gboard keyboard app. The feature had been available on iOS since last year, and starting this week, it is showing up on some Android devices as well.
The Gboard beta version now shows the ‘Make a GIF’ button that allows you to create reaction GIFs. You can try out the new feature by installing the beta version of Gboard. Open the GF interface on the supported Android device and tap on ‘My GIFs’. You can choose to add filters and save it. A wider rollout of the feature is expected soon.
Additionally, there are now more stickers available in Gboard, including blob emoji. We’ve reached out to Google for a full list of Android devices that custom GIFs are available on. Since the feature is still in beta, not everyone will see it until it rolls out in the main release.
